About
Sam Tripp is an award-winning cellist and composer located in Wilmington North Carolina. His music consists of crossovers and arrangements of mainstream music such as pop, hip-hop, EDM, and rock into the vast world of classical and film music.
He often performs and collaborates with local ensembles and artists such as Diajahboi, Jackson West, the Coastal Christian High School Chamber Orchestra, and the Wilmington Symphony Youth Orchestra.
In this year alone, Sam Tripp has received several awards such as the CCHS 2021 Department Award in Performing Arts, 2021 ACSI Distinguished Christian Student in Fine Arts Award and placed third at the CCHS talent show, "Coastals Got Talent" with the performance of his original arrangement, "the Hans Zimmer Suite". At the CCHS Award Ceremony (2020-2021), Instrumental Ensemble Director, Steve Morgan, acclaimed Sam as "an example of what passion, dedication, and commitment truly look like".

Influence greatly by the Piano Guys, Sam pushes the limits of your "traditional cello music" by utilizing, cello percussion, looping, strumming and other innovative techniques in both his videos and live performances to create the sound of a one man symphony.
Sam began private cello lessons in middle school with Jake Wenger at the Community Music Academy of the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. After his first year of cello, he joined the Wilmington Symphony Junior Strings and was first chair during his 8th grade year. In 2019 he joined the Wilmington Symphony Youth Orchestra, and since then has been involved in orchestra performances, chamber music, and has worked with composer and 1st vice president of the Wilmington Symphony Orchestra, Larry Zimmerman.
Sam was also 1st chair cellist of the Honors Instrumental Ensemble at Coastal Christian High School. He has performed solos with the instrumental ensemble as well as accompanied vocal groups at Coastal such as "Cornerstone" (Men's ensemble), "Vessel" (Women's ensemble), the Vocal Fundamentals class, and Honors Vocal Ensemble. He also performed, and arranged music for the original musical, "The Audition" in April of 2021, debuting his original work titled, "This Was My Home".
